Work From Anywhere Dad

Person with laptop outside

Many Father’s whom I have taken the opportunity to chat with have all without exception stated the same thing, that they would love to have more time to spend with family! And like myself, perhaps saw the possibility of making a career shift which would give them the opportunity of more time freedom and flexibility, as merely a pipe dream…something which lives in fantasy land…That is no longer my mindset and becoming reality!

The Mind

The power of being entrenched in a historical perspective is all but J overwhelming for most of us! What our parents taught us verbally, and what we take in from what we see has an immense hold over how we perceive the world!

I know that my perspective on money and wealth was painted with an evil overtone through what my parents said, and how they related to money. Whether that was more perception than their true heart on the matter is irrelevant, that is how I received the message and there certainly was enough of a push towards that mindset for me to consume it! Clearly we weren’t well off financially!

Let me just say right now that I am not paying out on my parents, they loved us very much and conveyed that often through less material means – affirming words, time with us, affection…Their perception on finances was handed to them from their parents, which would have been handed from their parents, and so the cycle goes!

The mindset we have is almost absorbed from our environment! We are generally unaware of many perceptions or beliefs that we hold, unless they are challenged or we happen to be in a situation where the topic comes up and brings it to our focus.

So what would the possibilities be if we moved towards a perspective whereby we learned from the past and accepted our bright future as reality before it happened? A mental shift, a change of glasses through which we perceive the world?

I know that my future is bright and that good things will come my way…I don’t necessarily have a timeline on it though. Now this does not mean that difficult times will not come, it does however mean that my viewing position and stance has changed! For me this is about choosing to perceive the world through the eyes of my faith!

We each need to find our way home, so to speak…how you live is your choice. Nothing that happens to you can dictate how you perceive your reality, that is up to you! Will you choose to be defined by circumstances or will you choose to rise above?!

Mindset Focus

Relevant Focus

As has been mentioned in earlier posts, where you are looking is where you will end up. Your focus dictates your outcomes. If I look at a possible opportunity and say that it can’t be done or that only a “lucky few” can succeed; because I have imprinted those beliefs within myself, I have in effect prophesied over my future!

Our greatest limitations are those we impose on ourselves! Saying something is not possible without any attempt at trying is true failure…trying and failing is not failure, it is educating! There are some things which we can learn from the experience of others, while there are other situations which we need to go through to know for ourselves!

Albert Einstein stated, “Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, is the definition of insanity.” Ideally we are able to reevaluate and refocus when something we attempt does not go as we had hoped!

The brain

Making The Shift
The same goes for changing the way you and I approach opportunity, which in essence is risk. While we do need to be diligent and be smart about changing direction with our focus in life and career, we still need to jump. Billy Joel stated in a TV interview that a true artist does not have a “back up” plan. A true artist sees life through the eyes of their passion…for them there is no other option but to be true to their calling!

That is the certainty with which you and I need to approach our focus, our goals, following our heart! The fact that you are reading this is evidence of the fact that there is something stirring within you to not just make some changes but to shift the direction of where you are going! Something just does not sit right deep within, and you sense that there has to be more to life than being a 9-5 machine!

There is a saying in basketball, “You won’t make any shots that you don’t take”. We have to take action to achieve results! Inaction therefore is an action, a choice not to place ourselves in a vulnerable place of uncertainty. To achieve a reward, you need to risk losing.

I am blessed to have joined an amazing community called the Digital Experts Academy! I began my time of learning and refocusing with them being guided by their sister company, Six Figure Mentors, and I cannot speak highly enough about the leaders and the other members! The support and positive encouragement is outstanding!

To give you a little snapshot of how I began with them, as has been written in previous posts, there had to be more than 9-5 with long commutes…a type of “prison” if you will.

After many years of looking into online opportunities, I found the SFM/DEA and was most inspired by their approach – straight up it’s not a get rich quick scheme, it is an approach which encourages, guides and inspires you to work on your mind and open yourself up to new possibilities and realities which can be achieved, then gives you the training, tools and mentorship to make it a reality, to become a digital marketer!

If you don’t come from a marketing background and aren’t too technically savvy, that is fine as there are so many approaches and trainings which allow you to learn and move into something which you are passionate about!

I have been encouraged and supported to adopt and own a new state of mind, which has and continues to be invaluable! Here is a link to check it out for yourself:
If it’s not for you that’s great, as you have to be sure in your own mind and I am not the least bit interested in the “hard sell”! If it is for you, great…welcome to the crew!

If you find yourself resonating with what you are reading, subscribe to my group! I will endeavour to keep you “up” and inspired, and give you some relevant and great offers along the way, without bombarding you! I would love to have an opportunity to serve you and perhaps draw some inspiration from within yourself!

Stay inspired!

Your Focus

There really are very few people who finish High School, knowing what they want to do for their career. We make a choice because we have to, but very seldom is it made with passion and certainty! Actually, I will take it further than just High School choices; I believe that many of us go through our lives following a pathway out of obligation or a sense of being locked in, often because of those High School and University choices!

It’s Time to Change!!!

I have begun to realise that the way life is does not have to remain “as it has always been”, or that I have to keep doing something otherwise the sky will fall…I want to do something because I love doing it…we are called to live a life following that which inspires, not that which grinds us into a life of essentially becoming a machine!

Many years ago I worked as a furniture builder/cabinet maker, and I had the good fortune to be building furniture, as opposed to working a machine…there were several people there who had worked many years on the same machine doing the same job, and the truth is they had started to look like the machine they were using! When you looked into their eyes, the light had gone…they almost looked soulless!

Good people doing what they believe they must just to get by, and you know there is honour in that commitment…there is much more to life though!!!

Step Out And Step Up

When we do something which tears us down or at the very least holds us back, I believe that we are capable, even called to make the shift in focus which will create the realigning of our lives into a direction which will inspire, empower and enable us to be a more true version of ourselves, “the real you”, if you will!

Often I encounter clients or acquaintances who tell me they don’t have time to exercise due to their family commitments and work etc. I believe that if you don’t look after your health, there is a likelihood that you won’t be around for your family! You will make time for that which really matters to you, and the same goes for that which you focus on.

Potential can be a dirty word, if we don’t realise ours! With focus can come something more than reaching our potential…you see the word itself puts a limitation on that which, or the person whom it is referring to! If we align our focus with our passion and strengths, and do not the cap the end results, we will go far beyond that which we would have set as our end goal!!!

Set Goals

Now just let me say here that I’m not suggesting we shouldn’t set goals, as that is a most important exercise in moving forward and achieving results…I am however saying that we shouldn’t put a limit on the end results!

The difference between those who achieve big things and live big lives and those who don’t, is focus and intent…it’s not freakish ability or absurd skills. If we look at for example financial wealth, the child of a wealthy family definitely has the advantage of being financially backed to start or continue a business venture, but anyone without the right focus or intent and skill which comes from being in the right head space, can bankrupt enormously successful businesses within a very short time!

Wealth does not guarantee continued wealth and success, however being shown the right skills and things to focus on…seeing how that looks through the example of their parents lives, gives the greatest advantage as opposed to being backed by cash, as nice as that idea sounds!

You have probably heard about people who started with $859:00 in their bank account who are now billionaires. They were focused and intentional, and determined…they did not accept the demise of their goals, even when it looked like all was lost!!!

Failure is final…when our plans crash and burn and we give up on the goal, then walk away. Very often, if we are a little more stubborn about sticking with our goals, and see failure more in the light of a lesson to learn rather than a purely negative occurrence, we are far more likely to have success in a long term sense!

Robert Kanaat talking about achieving goals states, “There are no huge secrets to success in life. Succeeding with your goals takes the simple application of consistent action, adjusting your approach when necessary, and not giving up.” <>

There is two major keys in the above quote – 1. The goal itself must be important enough to inspire us to be consistent…putting in the intent, focus and work day after day! 2. Don’t give up! If the reason why you are striving towards your goal is powerful enough, this will keep you inspired on the bad days.

Digital Life

Deciding to pursue the “digital lifestyle” was a decision that I made, because I wanted to spend more time with my wife and daughter, and wanted to have more time and location freedom. I also wanted to do something through which I could serve others in a meaningful way, while earning money.

My career path has been Sports/Remedial Massage which is definitely a way to serve people, however it requires long commutes and is a way of exchanging time for money, as are most career paths. I want some more leverage in my future and see SFM/DEA as a way to achieve that.

The Way to a Mans Heart

Mans Heart

There is an old saying, “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”. There are other versions which tend to aim a little lower…however I believe that they are all wrong! The way to a man’s heart, is to care. Why just leave it with men – the way to a person’s heart, is to care!

When a man (or a woman) knows that they are appreciated and supported that goes a long way towards inspiring them to reach higher! Showing that you care, and actually caring (as opposed to fake it until you make it!) is perhaps the most powerful thing you can do to build a person up!

Have you ever had someone ask how you are and then answer their own question before you have had a chance to respond? “How are you going? Good!?” Doesn’t really leave room for, “actually my Grandmother passed away this morning”! Caring is asking and waiting for the answer because you are genuinely interested in the person.

There is power in intention, so if we intentionally look to build others up it really can begin to change our focus in a positive way, quite quickly! It doesn’t take long to tear someone down, but it often does take a long time to build someone up!

Four Close Friends

People Above Position

The vast majority of people I know as well as the research that I have done on the subject, shows that job satisfaction is at LEAST as much about the people you work with as it is about the job itself! If people do not get along with those with whom they work or have an overbearing boss who micro manages them, love for their work itself will not compensate for the stress from bad working relationships.

I had a job at one time cleaning windows…clearly not the most glamorous job, but I got along really well with my work partner which made ALL the difference! The people make the position, not the other way around!

Have you found yourself wishing to get off the 9-5 work week grind to do something which you are inspired about and which gives you more flexibility? You have come to the right place!

Here are five key points to starting a dream:

  1. It all begins with a thought.
  2. For the thought to take flight there needs to be belief that the thought, the dream can become reality.
  3. Then there needs to be planning.
  4. There must be absolute commitment!
  5. Learn and refine your chosen craft – do courses, advice, read, listen to relevant podcasts, attend Webinars and workshops.

Essentially the above becomes a rinse and repeat cycle. The number one point is by far the most important element – the mind…the mindset! Actually I would go as far as to say that when we focus on our mindset, and continue to pursue the building of our minds in a positive light, the other five points become a byproduct!

I’ve found that if we strive towards being the kind of person whom we would love to be a close friend of ours, then we are able to begin to embrace the vital elements which are able to release our creative self. Then we are able to live out our lives in such a way which is empowering and fulfilling, allowing us to express ourselves through embracing and empowering others to follow their path…

Look Where You Intend to Go

“By be holding we are changed” (my paraphrase) is a phrase from the Paul’s writings in the Bible which talks about looking at God (2 Corinthians 3:18). Whether or not you believe in a heavenly God or not, this phrase applies completely to the direction of our lives!

The people we allow to influence us, the books we read, what we choose to watch, podcasts we listen to…everything whether negative and bringing us down, or uplifting, full of love, positive and purposeful, will drive the direction of our life!

I am convinced that there is no greater calling on our lives than to be people who live with passion and purpose, following the dreams of our calling! From this space we are free to effect those around us, to “serve” people through empowering them by who we are, and then connect with them from a higher plain of the essence of why they are who they are!

Love is Key

What is love if not serving another? Love isn’t a word or a phrase you speak to someone, it’s what you do! How can we empower other’s with words if we are not first empowering them with actions? Love is an action!

The way to a man’s, and woman’s heart is through being a person who draws them in and inspires them to reach higher! A person who allows someone to be vulnerable without feeling vulnerable is someone who we all want to spend a lot of time with, and a person who will inspire us continually!

The Power of Giving

Better to give than receive

The most incredible opportunity we are blessed with in life, is the chance to be generous! When we are able to give and consider others, to serve and build them up through our gifts…we can cause a shift in another person’s life!

If you have ever seen the movie, “The Butterfly Effect” (slight spoiler alert if you haven’t) you would have seen presented in a rather over the top manner, how a small change on one side of the world caused a massive catastrophe on the other side of the world. A butterfly flutters off a flower in Cape Town South Africa which causes a Tsunami in Koi Samui Thailand etc.

Butterfly on a flower

Kind Acts

The point I am building to, is that unexpected kindness often brings about a mental reframe in the person who receives the gift, which in turn inspires and empowers them to reach out and pass on to others their heart to give.

The writer of the book of Acts in the Bible declares the heart of Jesus when he states, …”it is more blessed to give than receive.” Acts 20:35 NIV. Whatever your background is and whatever your beliefs are, giving and generosity are an ancient way of life encouraged in society where any decent morality was upheld!

An ancient Chinese saying from over 2000 years ago states, “To help those who are suffering difficulties and to have sympathy for our neighbours, this is following the Dao. Those who follow the Dao will be blessed.”

Hit Out or Live With Kindness?

So often my first response when someone does something harsh and hurtful to me, is to “hit” back harder than they have hit me…however this is why many ancient feuds and wars are still raging! The way forward is to love, give and be kind…very easy to say and often very difficult to do, but the most inspiring people that you will ever hear about aren’t those who are the best at serving up brutal revenge, rather it is those who in the face of pain, return serve with generosity and love!

If you haven’t seen the movie, Hacksaw Ridge, do yourself a favour…it illustrates the power of love, commitment to a cause, and sacrificial unrelenting giving of oneself for the lives of others! There is a book which shares the story too!

Give Until it Hurts – Then be Blessed!

Giving of yourself, to the point of the removal of your comfort zone will impact you powerfully! In an earlier Blog Post I spoke about the privilege of serving a school and community in rural Nepal…it continues to impact me in a powerful way!

I can say from experience (perhaps experiences too few and too far between, unfortunately!) that when I have given to the point of putting myself in an uncomfortable situation, the benefits I have received seem to be more than the benefits I have the privilege of giving to others…it is bizarre and doesn’t seem right, but it is just the way it seems to work! I have no doubt many of you have also experienced this!

My amazing wife took our young daughter last week to give out some boxes of chocolates to some random strangers, to teach her that it is better to give than to receive! They both had a blast and came home with those beautiful warm fuzzy feelings after!

It is something that I have pondered on for many years, the concept of giving and being generous even in the face of greed and selfishness. To break the cycle of a take all I want and screw everyone else society…become generous!

Sounds simple right? Simple in theory, but it takes the recognition of more than a lifetime of attitudes and habits (passed down from our parents etc) which were not even necessarily spoken aloud but were lived out loudly…and then we need to be strongly committed to this cause! It takes a monumental shift in focus and even motivation!

Focus on What Matters

Wealth – Good or Bad?

Let me make something clear; I am not suggesting that everyone needs to sell up all their possessions and plant a garden while living in a cave! Wealth is a good thing, in the right hands…generous hands! Sharing is something many of us were also taught as children, but perhaps many of us let that fall away as we acquired more.

In fact I think in generous hands, the more wealth the better! I desire to be a good steward of all which passes through my hands…I want what I am able to give to be used for the benefit of others…Earn as much as you can, and give as much as you can, is my philosophy!

I have found that to give in a consistent ongoing fashion, I have to be strategic about it. Believing that helping a cause is a good idea is not enough to continually trigger me to give to causes I believe in…whether we are talking about time, money or possessions – items which I own that are good but no longer needed for myself.

Anthony Robbins states, “Life is a gift, and it offers us the privilege, opportunity and responsibility to give something back by becoming more”. (

So because we are blessed with this gift of life, we are empowered with the responsibility of becoming something more. This yells “freedom” to me…the negative thoughts that plague us, the negative people whom we allow to influence us, the foolish ‘I’m not good enough’ belief which pervades the thinking of so many of us, is the biggest load of trash and it’s only useful to throw over our left shoulder and never look back!

Step into your life! Choose to be shaped by love, beauty, joy, giving and focus! I certainly haven’t “arrived” on this path I’ve chosen, however I am excited by what is happening in my life and what is to come!!!

If you are on this same path or wish to begin walking this way, please add your details to, Inspiration For Your New Life, and you will receive an inspiring 7 part video series on mindset and a digital lifestyle by two of my incredible mentors, Stuart Ross and Jay Kubassek. Loving Your Path

Stunning View of Lake and Mountains

The most beautiful scenes in the world usually involve mountains; often water and as well, but there is something incredibly majestic about a beautiful mountain! What an amazing privilege we have to be able to scale mountain peaks – enjoying the path along the way and being astounded by the view from the top!

Now, I’m not necessarily talking about scaling Everest, it may just be a small mountain but the reward is still significant! That experience of enjoying the journey while at the same time keeping in the back of your mind the enjoyment of taking in the view from the top…it really is a metaphor for life!

If your life is about the destination, your life is going to suck! It’s really important to stop trying to portray that Instagram life – show the best, chuck out the rest. Let’s breathe in each moment and breathe out appreciation.

I know life gets tough and quite brutal at times…what can you learn from the hard times? Ultimately those very tough times can shape you into someone who is even more special because of your experiences which empower you with the ability to empathise!

Where Are You Looking?

Think about what your ultimate picture of life looks like, you know that dream you have of the place where and when you feel you will have ‘arrived’. Two questions come from that dream:
Do you believe it is achievable? (Which will determine whether or not you are really pursuing your dream)
Are you too busy chasing your dream to embrace the moments of your life?

Look towards where you want to go, and chase your dreams…and stay in the moments as they happen! It is equally important as the destination, perhaps more important to find joy and contentment in what you do every day…so why not do something you enjoy?! How you may well ask? I might just have a solution for you…it’s not for everyone, but it just might open your mind to what could be!

What would your ideal day look like? I mean an average ideal day, not when you are on holidays, an ideal work day…No alarm, maybe a run on the beach or walk or ride…breakfast with your family around the dining table? Then diving into work on your own business, a business which you are inspired about?! A business which allows flexibility to fit around the things which you don’t want to miss – lunch with your partner and friends – kids sporting events etc…

Love Your Life

Allow Your Perception to Change

Sound too good to be true? What if it wasn’t, what if the only reason you can’t have this balanced lifestyle, is that you don’t believe that you can?! Change your thinking and change your life! That may sound overly simple, but that’s the truth of where it begins.

It is easy to get excited about doing something you are passionate about! For me one thing I love is hiking up mountains! I don’t have to psych myself up with a whole lot of mental exercises to get me to the place where I can bring myself to attempt a climb…if it’s there, I’m going up!

What is it that you are passionate about? What could you do everyday that would empower you to get up looking forward to your day!? What is something you could talk about all day and still be excited about? Do what that which inspires you!

This has become my standard operating procedure for life, no longer accepting that things are the way they are and they will stay that way! When I believed that, it was true purely because I didn’t even attempt to change anything!

My brother went to University as a mature age student, and I recall a conversation I had with a guy he used to have business dealings with, about how my brother was mad for going back to study! My brother simply stated that in four years the guy would be still in the same dead end job that he hated, and that he (my brother) would be doing something he is passionate about and loving it! (Which continues to be the case)

Shift Your Life up…Now!

It doesn’t take as long as you may think to make a major shift in your life…commit to it and keep progressing through speed bumps. Stay the course, and keep striving towards the change…if the reason is big enough, it will keep you on track!

Forge your path, start your own business, become an Affiliate Marketer or an Amazon seller…whatever you do, there is no need to settle for just existing! Serve others through what you do, and live a life of meaning!!!

Live to Serve – Serve to Live

Rescue Service

One of the great and most important acts we can do, in fact the reason we are here is to serve! Satisfaction in life is derived from serving…if like myself you are a believer in God then our life is to be lived out in service to Him. The interesting fact is that whatever your beliefs are, the way we all show our service is through the pouring out of ourselves on behalf of others.

The truth regarding myself is, that I have and still struggle with being a completely selfish *#*;:#*+*! I need rescuing from that self indulgent path and am convicted that living to serve and serving to really live, is the direction my life needs to take! So if you are like me or nothing like me, but wish to embark on this path – let’s dive in!

What Does Service Look Like?

Service often conjures up images of people delivering food, or a project where fresh water is made available in a developing country; and in some countries it is a vocation – perhaps a social standing.

All of the above is true, however that does not cover the essence of what serving others is about. The Dictionary definition “(noun), the act, manner, or right of serving”…<>
The “right of serving”, gives the term the feel of it being a privilege, rather than a forced labour scenario!

Hands all in

Empower Yourself to Empower Others

We all are given the opportunity to partake in the privilege of serving, what an incredible thought! Let me expand on this. Serving another person puts my head and heart into a space where I can empower that person to lift up their perspective and live in a headspace where they can empower another person to live in a headspace where…The flow on is beyond measure!

If you and I are living in such a way that is looking out for others, we begin to change the world, one person at a time! Even if you are in a position to connect with many people at once, generally the most powerful connections you will make, are to those who are closest to you, those you actually spend time with!

Living in such a way that serves others, I believe is best when it begins at home…If you are loving and serving your partner/family this is the platform for greatness! I believe that if you commit and do this well which in essence means because you want to, you are on a great path to be able to serve others outside of your home with great effect!

The privilege of serving others is filled with everyday opportunities to sow into the lives of people around us, to be a light in their day. Often it can be the smallest things which make a big difference!

Gazing into a lovers eyes

Be Present

In an age of incredible options for communication, the in person option has become even more important than ever! Be present in your interactions…one of the saddest things I see all too often, is a family or a group of friends eating out at a restaurant and all of them on their phones! When you are with someone, be mentally tuned in to them! This will show them that you are genuinely interested in them and will reveal your heart of service. This is a work in progress for me…I am determined to continue to learn the gift of truly being present!

You know, it occurs to me that serving people begins with a focus, an intention; and out of our intentions and focus comes behaviour and practical methods of delivering on our focus and intentions. Patterns of behaviour are formed over long periods of time, so it really does take an intentional decision to shift those patterns!

To have the conviction to follow through on a desire to live a life of service, you and I really need to have a powerful reason to change our focus and live with new eyes. After all, change for good is the only reason to change at all! And because you are reading this post, I am sure that you are interested in this great cause of being one who serves their community!

Serving is our greatest privilege and I am very keen to see where it is taking me! I hope that you have at the very least been provoked to think over your life’s direction, or quite possibly you are much further down the road of service to others than myself!

Where it Began

The inspiration which initiated me into this path of empowering others through service was a series of seven videos…they opened my eyes to possibilities and pathways, which I thought had become cut off from me! If that piques your interest, use the link below and check them out for yourself!

I just want to leave you with this…

5 Ways to Serve

  1. Ask people if you can help them and really mean it.
  2. Encourage people in a manner which builds them up!
  3. Look for ways to assist people without them asking for your help.
  4. Willingly go above and beyond in when someone asks for your assistance.
  5. Intentionally spend time focusing on being in a state which looks out for others.

Be inspired as you inspire!!

Light Bulb On

The question that every toddler and young child asks, “why?” And it is the same question that many of us continue to ask throughout our lives. Why do we do what we do? Why do we accept that things are the way they are and we can’t change it? Why are we here? Why do I not change my path, or even forge a new one?

Contemplating these questions over the last eight years in regards to what I do for work and how it constrains my flexibility, and how I hate the “time prison” my career sits in…I have been looking for a way out, a way forward into pathway with a genuine flexibility along with being inspiring and able to serve others!

Many schemes and so called get rich business opportunities have passed before my eyes. I even invested in two of them, one not so reputable and one more so but not a great fit for me.

I went quiet on the idea of an online opportunity for several years…until recently. I watched a video advertisement featuring Stuart Ross of Digital Experts Academy and Six Figure Mentors, and it resonated and continues to resonate deeply within me! It was about a business and life opportunity, and straight out it was stated that if you were looking for a get rich quick scheme to move on now, and that really caught my attention!

If you had asked me seven or eight years ago why I was looking for an online business opportunity, I would have told you that it was for the money and the time flexibility, which are legitimate reasons! Now what I am looking for is to combine passion and purpose into something which I do to serve others.

The reason why for me, starts with the Divine calling on my life to have a positive effect on people…and this begins at home – I hate missing out on so much with my wife and daughter, and it is my focus to find a way to be time flexible which allows me the opportunity to share in the special family moments of life!

The only thing stopping you and I from achieving something special in regards to a passion which turns into what we do, is our mind…if we think we can’t, it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. All good things begin with a focused mind and a consistency in applying yourself to the task, and a decision to not give up!

Refuse to accept that where you sense a calling/your purpose/your passion – is not possible! Do not allow yourself to be the one reason you are unable to achieve the space in which you are free to live your life as an expression of inspiration!

Motivational Inscription About Positive Thinking

From “Why?” to, “Why Not?”

As soon as we remove the barriers from our minds and open them up to great possibilities and potential, the prison door is gone, the bars are gone…ultimately there was no prison! Let your imagination fly and dream again.

Why not pursue that thing which looked like an amazing day dream which you thought could never become reality! Do the work, do the research, stay focused, keep reading and learning and being consistent. Allow yourself to be extraordinary and follow your passions into a future that you are excited about!

Daniel Dowling, writer and coach gives a great starting place in his article which appears in Thrive Global and was originally in “People who set themselves to changing the world and making the most of their talents are not different than you — they just cancel ordinary thoughts. Extraordinary living starts with a simple shift in mindset.” – Focus on the extraordinary to leave the ordinary behind!

Make a Plan

Look Towards The Place You Want To Be

Plan and continue to plan to focus on higher thoughts! Allow yourself to dream while dismissing that little voice which tells you that you aren’t good enough! Focusing on good things while pursuing great thoughts, allows a shift in direction which if continued becomes a habit, which then becomes a lifestyle. So instead of asking, Why can’t I get out of this hole I’ve fallen into? Instead ask, Why shouldn’t I be extraordinary? You go where you are pointing!

The most beautiful and powerful stories I come across from reading or directly from people I meet, are stories of overcoming adversity! It is never that guy who has inherited a long line of wealthy family members who is telling you what you need to do to be successful who is inspiring…it is always the person who grew up with little and survived tough relationships yet came through all of that and has this amazing, genuine smile on their face and has success. I am not referring to finance in this instance, because that doesn’t create that warm genuine smile, I’m talking about the fact that they have positioned themselves with a positive mindset and this has allowed them to be successful in life despite circumstances!

My Higher Purpose

A big part of the reason I am on this path of sharing blog posts and videos which talk about reframing your mind and giving yourself permission to step past your “safe zone”, is because of how my eyes have been opened to the possibilities for living life…the constraints and barriers of the mind are what limits me, and I’m seeing them removed one by one! If this was easy everyone would follow this path of unleashing their potential! The steps are simple, yet far from easy!

As a person of faith in a Higher Power, I believe that we are put on this earth to live big lives! That means being inspired and empowered to do and be who you are meant to be! Which for many does not necessarily mean a huge change in circumstances, relationships, location or work, it simply means a shift from the negative dark sided focus, to the positive light side…the way you and I view the world changes how we live in it!

Hold Your Form And Don’t Give Up

I recall a PT I used to train with who would stand beside me towards the end of a particularly difficult exercise, and as I was battling to complete that last extension of my arm he would quietly say, “Hold your form, hold your form, and don’t give up, don’t give up.” That was enough for me to complete the exercise well, he kept me focused and instilled enough belief in myself to complete what I had previously had serious doubts about!

A great lesson for all of us in our focus and our delivery of how we live out our lives! When you follow a passion and sense a calling on your life which you know you are meant to pursue, remember in the tough moments which will inevitably come, to hold your form and don’t give up!

Be who you are meant to be, whether that means a huge shift in location, who you surround yourself with, and/or what you do for a career! And it may very well mean in your situation, to just find a space of contentment! And this may include do things which make you happy on a regular basis. 5 Tips to Inspire You in Being Your Best

Shining Brightly

Talking with a client of mine recently, she shared a principle which I believe fits every life, every set of circumstances and each individual – “You need to learn to adapt what you do to align with your uniqueness, and find approaches which fire your specific strengths to bring out your best”!

1 – Shine!

Now my client was in this instance referring to exercises which your particular body type, anatomy and genetic make up respond best to; but this can also help each one of us in the various spheres of our life in pursuing those things which can make the best of ourselves to shine!

What are your strengths? What are the talents and gifts in your life which others are quick to recognise and point out? And potentially in addition to this are areas of gifting which are known within your mind and perhaps not so publicly recognised.

2 – Tune In

So how are you are able to tune into the approaches and techniques which can help lead you to your “zone”? Something I have observed in others and experienced myself is that by purely being open to trying and experiencing new things, opens the door to discovering your most suited space to live in…the best of you revealed…

Do you have a part of yourself which has never really seen the light of day so to speak, an ability which you have some confidence in but you haven’t really tried it out too much or are afraid of trying it out?

Public speaking is one such ability which is a major fear for some, in fact I know of people who will not seek advancement in their chosen career due their fear of public speaking and the fact that a promotion would require them to face their fear. Yet I have frequently observed such people who fear the stage, being outstandingly gifted at presenting and speaking; when they allow themselves to give it a try!

Diving In

3 – Leave Comfortable Behind

The best of yourself isn’t always comfortable and often doesn’t come easily, and yet through time and persistence becomes a driving inspiration for you! This is such a powerful truth which can release your mind to remove the barriers which have been conditioned into you through various influences, from upbringing to friends and family etc!

Once you realise that fear is not a reason to avoid something which could release a potential you didn’t even know about, the restraints of the mind are blown off and you are facing a whole new world of possibilities!

I cannot stress enough how big this thought process is! Once our mind is opened to embrace new and untried things, despite the potential of falling on our face, we can begin to live! The mind is an intricate force, and needs to be exercised, stretched and empowered! Like our muscles it grows when put under the right loading!

From the book, 12 Rules For Life – An Antidote For Chaos, Jordan B Peterson states, “Treat yourself as if you were someone you were responsible for helping.” So how would you encourage a friend to step out and embrace new opportunities outside of their comfort zone? Do for yourself what you do for your friends! Take the leap to find the new ground you cannot even see yet.

4 – Aim to be Inspiring

Settling in life is not a healthy position to take in most cases. Aim to empower others and lift them up to be the best version of themselves…encourage growth and development in those around you. It doesn’t mean we all need someone on our back to ride us until we give in and step out…rather we need someone speaking positive encouragement into our lives, allowing us to be safe in the vulnerable state of walking on unfamiliar ground, testing out how it feels and how we might fit.

Inspiration is at the heart of being the best version of ourselves. When you are inspired you are zoned in and hyper focused on what has inspired you, and desire to share that with others! And in essence this encapsulates what leadership is about – inspiring others. To inspire and lead you must be inspired!

Broken Heart

5 – From Your Hurt Comes Your Heart of Healing

It is amazing how often the hardest times in our lives give us the very experiences which are the most powerful tools to impact those around us – out of our misery comes our mission!

The very thing which when you are in the middle of living through it, cannot wait for it to be over; is the thing which often can be the place where the best of you is borne. If you allow love to overpower the bitterness and hurt, your best shines and shines and shines…and this helps others to heal and be their best!

The most inspiring people are those who have gone through hell and yet treat others as though they have visited Heaven! And just as there is a choice as to how we react to what life throws at us, that which in many cases we don’t have a choice in, there is perhaps greater opportunity to embrace the space out of our comfort zone when we do have a choice – the way we live our lives!

Your Happy Place

A happy place

Do you have a special place that you like to go to escape the at times mundane existence which is what life can become? Or perhaps it is an activity such as a sport or maybe the gym…that place you go to do something, often quite physical, which helps you unwind mentally – to decompress from the pressures which build up through the path of your life…What if I told you that there is a way to spend more time in this happy place?

The most inspiring people that I have been noticing more recently, are those who have found or made the time to include the things in life which are enjoyable, and make them happy! They make a conscious decision to focus on what is important to them, and then pursue it with unrelenting purpose until it becomes their reality.

The foundation of living in a head space of unrelenting purpose is essentially consistency, as opposed to some epic, intense, high pressure, brutal aggressive charge towards your passion! Keep doing what you need to do to get to where you want to be; where you are called to be.

Intense focus

Live – Passion Focused

Life is very often not easy, so let us choose to follow passions and do activities we love, and make a living in the process. I believe this concept is resonating with you, but there is a little voice which right now is likely saying that I am not dealing in realities. My response is, who told you that? Why do you accept that things most likely won’t change?

In an earlier post of mine, (Purposeful Living) I shared a quote from Germany Kent which states, “You become what you digest into your spirit. Whatever you think about, focus on, read about, talk about, you’re going to attract more of into your life. Make sure they’re all positive.” What a powerful concept which I am convinced through both study and experience, is reality!

So essentially you and I end up where we are looking, and if you have ever been white water rafting and had the responsibility of guiding the raft, you know that if you focus on the boulder which you do not want to hit, that is exactly what you DO hit! To change, you need to focus on where you want to go and then take the steps which appear, to get you there.

Where You Live

Your “happy place” should be more a case of where you live, not just a special treat you get to enjoy once every few weeks or months! What is it that you need to change to get you to where you want to be? If the desire is real and strong enough and you are willing to work, you will find that the things which you previously thought were insurmountable or too hard to change, begin to look smaller and more manageable…you begin to make progress.

Positive change no matter how small, is an incredible motivator! It instils belief that the steps which you are taking can make the desired difference in your life! Even though the process may be at times difficult and challenging if you see results it worthwhile, right?!Open your mind

In Your Head

Jamelle Sanders talking about the mind states, “Reaching your greatest potential is contingent upon rigorous psychological development”. Therefore spending time developing mindset is the biggest key to begin living in your happy place. Focus where you want to be, read, find mentors and take action steps to get you there. And repeat the cycle.

Your happy place is a state of mind, but it helps massively to be in a position in life to be time flexible enough to go to your physical happy place. You are the only person who can make the changes necessary to make that happen.

Over to You

Step up, take responsibility and pursue a life of substance! Why exist when you can thrive? Why settle when you can excel? Instead of going through the motions, be excited about where you are and where your next step will take you!

Healthy Mind – Healthy Body

Your emotions are directly related to your physical wellbeing! What?! There is a direct link between how you feel emotionally and how well you are physically! It is very easy to accept the connection between emotional and mental health, but physical too!? No, I’m not on something or going nuts…It has been shown that there is a direct link from your emotional health to your physical health!!

Candace Pert author of, Molecules of Emotion, is a guru on this topic, and has presented and written prolifically, sharing her findings as well as other’s! She made it her mission to discover an opiate receptor in the cells of the body, which would open up a whole new world linking, emotions and physical health! (This was mentioned in my last Blog Post, The Best of You)

Be Strong

Exercise is Awesome!

Having worked in the Wellbeing and Fitness industry for over ten years, I am well aware, as are many people most likely including you, of the importance for balance in life. If you work at a desk, it’s important to move and exercise very regularly. The more time spent sitting, the more vital exercise becomes!

Something which sounds strange, however is actually true is the fact that it actually takes a considerable amount of strength through your spinal erectors (spinal support muscles) and Interscapula muscles (in between the shoulder blades) to keep you in good posture through a whole day at a desk job! If you are someone who trains with weights the general ratio of back vs chest is two to one. In other words two back exercises for every chest exercise (Contact me for more information about exercises and stretches which can help with posture).

Why I am spending time looking at posture and exercise is because there is a much deeper reason for all of us to devote time to this than just good cardiovascular fitness, strength and posture (Which are all good reasons). It has been shown that exercise releases endorphins, the feel good chemical! So regular exercise, regularly releases the feel good chemical! It kind of takes the “I don’t have time for regular exercise” excuse out of the equation for all of us!

The better we feel emotionally, the better we’ll feel and function…and we will be more efficient, make better decisions because our head is clearer. Ultimately, we don’t have time NOT to exercise!

Now that we have evidence before us of something which has long been suspected by many, is actually the case (Healthy bodies are interconnected with feeling good – healthy emotions), we have a no brainer reason to get serious about exercise for all of the benefits it brings! When we are healthier in the way we feel, in our physical fitness, mentally and spiritually; we are at our best!

All About The Attitude

Doctor Barbara Fredrickson a Scientist who has also documented her extensive research on the important connection between our emotional health and our physical wellbeing. She states…”the physical and emotional benefits of positivity, including faster recovery from cardiovascular stress, better sleep, fewer colds, and a greater sense of overall happiness.

The good news is not only that positive attitudes—such as playfulness, gratitude, awe, love, interest, serenity, and feeling connected to others—have a direct impact on health and wellbeing, but that we can develop them ourselves with practice.” Here’s a link to the full article –

A positive attitude is not something you are necessarily born with, it can however be developed and trained! I believe having a balanced and healthy lifestyle where you are caring for your emotional, physical, mental and spiritual health places you in a prime position to live in this empowered, positive head space! What an amazing way to live, to see through positive eyes…for your first reaction to people you interact with, and the circumstances which you find yourself in to generally be a positive one!

Own Responsibility

An important thing to consider at this time is the importance of taking responsibility for where you are in life, and where you want to be. If the two are a long way apart, it’s vital to take action instead of making excuses…If you are currently someone who struggles to squeeze exercise into your schedule, own the responsibility and make it happen, it’s ultimately for your greater good and the good of those you love!

Relaxation And Rejuvenation

Where is Your go to place?

Exercise is a very important element in your life, however there is clearly more to emotional health than just exercising the body, as Dr Barbara mentioned above that attitude, playfulness and the list goes on with the elements which contribute to emotional health. So pursue the best version of you!

If you have a go to place which helps you unwind and rejuvenate, go “there” regularly. It may be a room in the house, the shed, a favourite vacation or a camping site…anywhere we can relax, unwind and rejuvenate is seriously important! (I will write a Blog on going to your “Happy Place” soon).

So here’s to you – wishing you a healthy body and a healthy mind, and may you spend many an hour in your happy place!!
